The elevator pitch:

Dr. Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy, a brilliant botanist who'd sell your grandmother for a nickel if it stopped climate change. Loves plants, poisonous kisses, and trying to destroy capitalism for her own ends.

Tl;dr:

Because DC Comics frequently resets, and a lot of classic titles essentially exist as standalone stories, there's room for a lot of different interpretations of longstanding characters. Pam's very much in that boat, so here's how I tend to write her:

❦ Seattleite whose lonely childhood involved taking refuge among plants. I assume there were a lot of blackberry bushes.

❦ TERRIBLE PhD experience thanks to Jason Woodrue. His unethical experimentation on her created her connection to the Green, while his unethical...everything else...is why they had a sexual relationship while she was his student.

❦ Now a 30something bisexual woman who's been in and out of Arkham more than once. The paperwork might say she's anywhere from 27 to 34, but nobody really cares about the number; the only thing that matters is that her cell has no access to plants.

❦ Strong-ass feelings about saving the planet from human destruction - but in an eco-terrorist, "cool motive, still murder" kind of way. Pamela's goals are noble, but the ends always justify the means for her. Teaming up with her on an issue can be fraught, because it's not always clear whether her calculations involve

❦ Lowkey obsessed with Batman. You know, like normal people are.

❦ Possessive, insecure, volatile, desperate for the unconditional love that she's neither felt secure in or worthy of. Her parents neglected her, her mentor manipulated her, and the world as a whole is hellbent on torturing her plant brethren to death. She tries to cover up her flaws with a cool exterior, but she's emotionally volatile, and there's a lot of rage under the surface. A lot of rage right on the surface, if she's trapped in Arkham at the moment.

❦ Interested in motherhood and the rearing of wayward children, but fitfully so. Give her a pack of orphans and a park she can commandeer, and she'll be happy to shelter them and teach them the ways of the natural world...but children she doesn't know can be acceptable casualties if it's a win for the earth.

Ships and shipping:

yes: Harley Quinn, Batman
probably: cross-canon
maybe, please ask: Male villains from Batman's rogues' gallery
no: Robins and other teenage superheroes

❧ Her best outcome in a ship is along the lines of "they're messy, but they make each other better." With plenty of ships with her, it could be "they're messy, and they make themselves worse." If she's someone's better half, that's probably not a good thing, lmfao.

❧ Given her abilities, dubcon and noncon are obviously A Thing with Pamela. However, I'm not interested in springing either on people unannounced (and tbh am only really interested in writing dubcon). My default in sexting memes, etc., is to assume things are consensual and any powerplay elements are part of the experience for the characters. I'm always happy to edit and adjust based on your needs - if I ever write something that doesn't work for you, PM me and I'll fix it!

❧ I love an age gap, but everyone needs to be 18+ and there of their own volition. And if she fought you when you were in high school, she's not interested.

❧ Crosscanon ships are for real my jam, so please never hesitate to reach out if you're interested!
